I am currently in the process of trying to get a job as a software engineer. In order to get a job as a software engineer I have to solve LeetCode style questions to pass the interview. I personally don’t enjoy solving LeetCode questions because of the lack of value I recieve from it. Yes, a job where I get to use code to solve intresting problems sounds amazing, but solving problems in a resistriced envorment that has no direct use cases feels wrong. Before I get the hate saying that “LeetCode questions are a great way to become a more unique and clever programmer” and “why don’t you just suck it up and scarfic some of your time to solve the problems” I would like to say your 100% right. In all fairness, just solving 100’s of LeetCode questions and trying my luck at the job market is not a bad idea. Not for money or the idea of getting rich, but strickly just for the sake of solving the problem. However, I just can’t find myself mustering up the courage to solve these problems just for this far fetced idea that I will oneday get a job because of it. To solve this dilemina I will instead create an app where I force my to do LeetCode questions. You may be wondering how I will force myself to do this and to tell you the truth its not that complicated.
I would like you to think what things force you do certain things. Why do you force yourself to get up at 5:00 am? Why do you force yourself to listien to people and perform tasks that they request of you? About 70% of the time it is mostly because you will get money if you do so. Money is a powerful force. It will make you do a lot of things sometimes unknowly. Especially in a society that revolves around it to maintain strucutre and hopefully peace. Now what in the hell does this have to do with LeetCode and charities. Well my idea is to force myself to solve a certain number of LeetCode question by a certain date else I will have to donate my bet that I made to finsih these problems to charity. If I notice myself failing to solve these problems, then maybe software engineering is not right for me.
